SMC established one of the modern plants in the Middle East to produce Calcined Gypsum from Gypsum deposits at Ras Malaab, south Sinai. The plant was contracted with the support of USAID with annual production of 250,000 tons and is marked under the name of "Nejmetsinai" that means the Star of Sinai.
